Alessandro Mendini architect was born in Milan in 1931.
He was editor in chief of a succession of magazines: “Casabella”, “Modo” and “Domus”.
In 1989, in Milan, he opened the Atelier Mendini together with his brother, the architect Francesco Mendini.
He has been awarded several international prizes, including three “Compasso d'oro”. He holds an honorary title from the Architectural League of New York as well as the title of "Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres" from the French Republic.
He was given an honorary degree in Milano, Parigi, Wroclaw in Polonia and Seoul in South Corea and the “European Prize for Architecture 2014” in Chicago. He was appointed Meste de Design de la Catalogna in Barcellona.
In 2017 Alessandro Mendini won the “A&W Award Designer of the year” in Colonia, Germany.
His works can be found in various museums and privates collections.
